Thole/Wickler to meet Krasilnikov/Stoyanovskiy at the World Championship Final, Mol/Sørum aim for bronze

Hamburg, Germany, July 6, 2019. The home heroes Julius Thole/Clemens Wickler have gone beyond all expectations and found their way to the final of the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships presented by comdirect and ALDI Nord. Their opponents for gold will be the Russian duo Viacheslav Krasilnikov/Oleg Stoyanovskiy, making this the first time ever two European teams will fight for the global throne. Thole/Wickler will be trying to emulate their countrymen Julius Brink and Jonas Reckermann, who became World champions in Stavanger in 2009, while Krasilnikov and Stoyanovskiy are hoping to improve on the silver medal that Dmitry Barsouk and Igor Kolodinsky claimed in 2007 in Gstaad - which is the very best result for a Russian team at Worlds to this day.
