Latvia’s Plavins/Egleskalns defeat top seeded qualifiers to enter 2015 Fuzhou Open main draw

Fuzhou, China, April 21, 2015. On Tuesday Martins Plavins/Hermans Egleskalns from Latvia defeated the top seeded qualifiers for a spot in the 2015 FIVB Beach Volleyball Fuzhou Open. The season opening men’s qualification tournament on April 21 also opened the Olympic qualification window for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games in Brazil.

Yerevan, Armenia, April 20, 2015. As Armenia is preparing to host its first international competition later this year, the EEVZA U18 Beach Volleyball Championships, an inspection and site visit was organised this weekend and performed by Mr Ilya Volodarskiy, a member of both the CEV and FIVB Beach Volleyball Commissions.

Sakarya, Turkey, April 12, 2015. Poland’s Volleyball family continues to march from triumph to triumph and their future perspectives look extremely bright, even more after their men’s U19 national team claimed gold at their age-group European Championship as the competition came to a close on Sunday evening in Sakarya. Poland edged Italy by 3:1 (25-15, 25-13, 25-27, 25-21) in a remake of the match these teams had contested in Pool I at the very beginning of the tournament.

Dinamo KRASNODAR celebrate second European trophy to further cement Russian rule

Sopot, Poland, April 11, 2015. Dinamo KRASNODAR completed a perfect night for Russia’s Volleyball family as the team captained by Liubov Shashkova claimed their second European trophy in history at the Ergo Arena in Gdansk-Sopot. Though they lost the return match with the home heroines of PGE Atom Trefl SOPOT by 1:3 (24-26, 25-18, 24-26, 22-25), they were able to regroup and seize the golden set that followed (15-10) to emulate their countrymen of Dinamo MOSCOW and win this year’s CEV Volleyball Cup – Women. 6,000 fans were in attendance to contribute a great atmosphere as the visitors from Russia were anchored by their superstar Tatiana Kosheleva who finished the game on 37 points (!) to claim also the award for the Most Valuable Player of the finals.
