Luxembourg, January 9, 2015. Though winter has finally come and snow has been falling almost all over Europe, Beach Volleyball fans can already start looking forward to a 2015 season that will be packed with a series of high-class events and as many as 19 tournaments as per the tentative calendar published today by CEV. The climax will be reached once 32 teams per gender – maximum two per country – will travel to Baku for the Beach Volleyball event of the inaugural European Games (June 16-21) and then from July 28 through August 2 as Austria’s largest sandbox in Klagenfurt will re-open its doors for the 2015 edition of the CEV Beach Volleyball European Championship Final. More events may be added to this tentative calendar as CEV is currently negotiating with other potential organisers.

Tallinn, Estonia, January 9, 2015. Estonia’s capital Tallinn is hosting this weekend one of five first-round qualification tournaments leading to the 2015 FIVB Volleyball Women’s U20 World Championship scheduled for early July in Cyprus. The winner of each first-round qualifier plus the second placed team with the best score across all Pools will make the second stage of the qualification process which is due to take place through May 14-17, 2015. The hosts of Estonia are playing the national teams of Greece, Croatia and Turkey, bronze medallists from last year’s U19 European Championship held in Tartu. Luxembourg, January 8, 2015. A total of four qualification tournaments for the 2015 CEV U19 Volleyball European Championship – Men got started on Thursday with six matches on schedule. This was only the first round of matches with another 39 following throughout the weekend in as many as eight venues that will eventually determine the 11 teams joining hosts Turkey for the Final Round of the competition scheduled for April 4-12, 2015 in Sakarya and Kocaeli. Russia, the Czech Republic, Germany and Romania all scored three-set wins in their respective matches whilst the Netherlands had to fight for five sets before edging past Hungary. Latvia contributed the major sensation of the day with their 3:1 victory over hosts Greece in Volos.

Jelgava, Latvia, January 6, 2015. The city of Jelgava will be hosting this weekend one of eight tournaments on schedule for the second and final qualification round to the 2015 edition of the CEV U18 Volleyball European Championship – Women. The tournament will be held in Jelgava, some 45 km from the country s capital, Riga. The hosts of Latvia will be playing there the national teams of Belgium, Estonia and Slovenia with the eventual winners sure of making the Final Round coming up in Plovdiv and Samokov, Bulgaria, later this spring.
