Two semi-finalists per gender found at EEVZA event in Batumi
Batumi, Georgia, September 7, 2019. The competition at the EEVZA Beach Volleyball Tour event in Batumi started on Saturday under rainy conditions – just as if there was a tradition to continue from previous events held at the Georgian seaside resort on the shores of the Black Sea. Despite the challenge that they had to cope with, the organisers worked hard to make sure that the tournament could continue across three courts, with the programme featuring as many as 36 matches.
After playing each other earlier this week in the final match of the EEVZA event held in Yerevan, Armenia, Aliaksandr Dziadkou/Pavel Piatrushka of Belarus and Russia’s Pavel Shustrov/Alexey Gusev of Russia locked horns again. The result was the same – with the team from Belarus securing a 2-0 victory. The Belarusian tandem claimed their spot in the semis together with another Russian team – Aleksandr Kramarenko/Dmitrii Veretiuk. After a very close fight, Russia’s Olga Motrich/Elizaveta Terenteva (pictured) made it to the women’s semis but they had to play three sets to edge Viktoryia Siakretava and Lizaveta Chabai of Belarus. Tetiana Lazarenko and Anhelina Khmil of Ukraine have progressed to the semis as well.
The competition will end on Sunday to close the 2019 EEVZA Beach Volleyball season.
