Armenia kicks off the School Volleyball festivals

Monday 15th of October 2018

Yerevan, Armenia, October 15, 2018. The first "School Volleyball" festival was held in "Qvant" - one of the best schools in the Armenian capital to mark the start of the cooperation with the CEV for the School Project, aimed at introducing pupils to Volleyball and therefore at growing the game at the grassroots level. The first festival proved to be a big success with 120 attendees, including teachers and pupils.

The best players of Armenia - Ashot Balabekyan, Andre Simoni, Anna Galustyan and Syuzanna Khachatryan - were present on the occasion and held a training session with the children, teaching them the basic rules of Volleyball. The pupils were active listeners and gladly took part in the training, trying out their skills on the court in the backyard of their school. Physical education teachers were also greatly involved, as they believe such activities and festivals will increase the children s interest in the sport by a great deal.

The festival took place as a part of implementing the CEV School Project in Armenia - the "Qvant" school received Volleyball equipment, funded by the CEV. The movement will expand even further as the Volleyball Federation of Armenia plans on holding similar activities in two more schools in Yerevan in the nearest future.
